Horses

MoonAcre Sanctuary is currently home to 12 horses, each of whom has arrived with a unique story shaped by hardship, neglect, or uncertainty. Every horse in our care is given the time, space, and compassion they need to heal and thrive in a safe, peaceful environment.

Our horses have a home for life. We do not re-home them; instead, we make a permanent commitment to their wellbeing, providing security, stability, and the freedom to live as naturally as possible within a supportive herd. Through gentle, relationship-based care, we focus on trust, recovery, and quality of life, rather than expectation or performance.

We rehabilitate our rescued horses to help them overcome fears and physical challenges using natural horsemanship, liberty/friendship training, and gentling. Our goal is to give each horse a fulfilling, natural life, where their wellbeing and happiness comes first.
