MOONACRE SANCTUARY

This is our family animal Sanctuary near Larnaca, Cyprus. It is a peaceful place where the focus is on providing nursing care and a life long home to the most disadvantaged animals. Our facilities, and the expertise and dedication of our team of staff and volunteers, makes MOONACRE a unique place in Cyprus. My family and I have devoted our lives to MOONACRE since 2013. These photos show you the new life we provide to some of the most disadvantaged animals in Cyprus.

We hope that when the restrictions currently placed on us all are lifted, we will have the pleasure of sharing MOONACRE with you in person.
We already welcome residential volunteers from around the world and day volunteers in Cyprus, and we are always happy to give guided tours to visitors by appointment. When we are all free to travel again, we hope to offer you escorted treks with the MOONACRE rescued horses you have come to know and love. We look forward to sharing MOONACRE and our beautiful valley with you. We hope that with your support MOONACRE will go on being a place of safety and healing for many more animals without options.

If you would like to support our work with horses, dogs, cats and rescued farm animals, you are welcome to make a donation via Paypal account “sixteensofahounds@yahoo.com” or contact me for bank details.
If you would like to know more about options for visiting/volunteering please message me.

Dear Adopters – Flight Update *Corona*

Dear Adopters: I know that some of you were hoping to receive your new dogs very soon via a specially commissioned rescue flight to UK. At the instruction of the UK authorities, no exports from Cyprus into the UK via the TRACES system may take place until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

This is the directive I received this morning:
Subject: Suspension of issuance of TRACES Health Certificates for animals destined for adoption to the United Kingdom. Regarding the above issue, at the request of the UK authorities, given the difficult situation resulting from COVID19 pandemic, the Veterinary Services in Cyprus immediately suspend the issuance of TRACES veterinary certificates for the cases of animals destined for adoption to the U. K. until further notice. Therefore, if any possible shipments to the UK have been scheduled, they should be cancelled-postponed.

I sympathise particularly with those of you looking forward to welcoming a puppy into your family. I hope that our videos and updates will be some consolation to you while we all wait out this situation.

Please hang in there – your dogs are safe and loved by us!

Easter surprise from our volunteer Claudia

This morning we received a lovely Easter surprise from Claudia, one of our recent residential volunteers.
It is wonderful to receive endorsement of our work from people who have experienced MOONACRE for themselves. Thank you Claudia – we love this film!
I want to dedicate Claudia’s film to all those of you who have responded to my post asking for contributions towards our vet bills.
Many of you are regular supporters and know our history. Some of you are new to MOONACRE and have placed your trust in us for the first time.
Please watch this film and be assured that you are a big part of the magic that happens at MOONACRE.

WILL YOU SPONSOR A DOGGY WHEELCHAIR?

Here at MOONACRE we specialise in providing mobility solutions for disabled dogs. We provide a number of therapies, surgeries, prosthetic limbs, and when all else fails, mobility carts to stray and abandoned dogs. We do this so that stray dogs found paralysed in the streets of Cyprus can receive the same surgical and mobility solutions as any family pet who becomes disabled.

We have many resident dogs at MOONACRE who rely completely on doggy wheelchairs for their freedom. When these carts break, we MUST replace them. 2 sets of doggy wheelchairs became so used and damaged that they could not be mended, so we have had no option but to REPLACE these with stronger frames. However we still need to complete payment for our improved wheelchairs – even with a generous discount from our manufacturer in UK, we have an outstanding bill of GB£415 for the carts.

Will YOU sponsor part of a cart for FERGAL and LUCKY-GIRL to run free with their buddies? Take a look at our photos of the new wheels and PLEASE donate! Share and ask your friends to donate! We cannot continue our work without YOUR SUPPORT!
