When an animal becomes a permanent resident at MoonAcre, we make a lifelong promise to them. Campie is one of those very special souls.
Campie is blind and has been living safely at MoonAcre for the past year. She also lives with diabetes, which means her care is constant, precise, and essential to keeping her comfortable and healthy.
Every single day, Campie receives two insulin injections, carefully administered at specific times after she eats. Before each injection, we gently prick her ear to test her blood glucose levels, ensuring they are within the correct range. Managing diabetes requires routine, monitoring, and experience — and we are committed to getting it right for her.
Alongside the hands-on care, there are significant monthly costs:

- €144 for two bags of specialist diabetic food (she needs two bags per month)
- €110 for one box of insulin (10 vials), which lasts approximately one month
That’s €254 every month, just to meet Campie’s medical and dietary needs — and this doesn’t include additional veterinary checks or any unexpected care.
Campie relies entirely on us — and on the kindness of our supporters — to keep her safe and well.
We are looking for compassionate sponsors who would like to help support Campie and contribute towards the ongoing costs of her care. Whether it’s a full sponsorship or a small monthly donation, every contribution makes a difference to her life.
If you would like to sponsor Campie and be part of her journey, please get in touch.
Together, we can ensure that permanent residents like Campie receive the lifelong love and medical care they deserve.

Our UK supporters can help support our animal sanctuary too! Simply by doing their everyday shopping online.
You can also join our “teaming” initiative – all you do is sign up to giving €1 per month to the sanctuary – the idea is that many €1 combine to provide us with regular support.
