Caring for a Permanent Resident โ€“ Campie:

When an animal becomes a permanent resident at MoonAcre, we make a lifelong promise to them. Campie is one of those very special souls.

Campie is blind and has been living safely at MoonAcre for the past year. She also lives with diabetes, which means her care is constant, precise, and essential to keeping her comfortable and healthy.

Every single day, Campie receives two insulin injections, carefully administered at specific times after she eats. Before each injection, we gently prick her ear to test her blood glucose levels, ensuring they are within the correct range. Managing diabetes requires routine, monitoring, and experience โ€” and we are committed to getting it right for her.

Alongside the hands-on care, there are significant monthly costs:

  • โ‚ฌ144 for two bags of specialist diabetic food (she needs two bags per month)
  • โ‚ฌ110 for one box of insulin (10 vials), which lasts approximately one month

Thatโ€™s โ‚ฌ254 every month, just to meet Campieโ€™s medical and dietary needs โ€” and this doesnโ€™t include additional veterinary checks or any unexpected care.

Campie relies entirely on us โ€” and on the kindness of our supporters โ€” to keep her safe and well.

We are looking for compassionate sponsors who would like to help support Campie and contribute towards the ongoing costs of her care. Whether itโ€™s a full sponsorship or a small monthly donation, every contribution makes a difference to her life.

If you would like to sponsor Campie and be part of her journey, please get in touch.

Together, we can ensure that permanent residents like Campie receive the lifelong love and medical care they deserve.

Rusty and Luna Have Found Their Forever Homes!

Weโ€™re delighted to share some wonderful news from Moonacre Sanctuary โ€” Rusty and Luna have each found their forever homes!

They will be leaving at the beginning of March to travel to England, where their new chapters will begin. While itโ€™s always emotional saying goodbye, this is exactly what Moonacre Sanctuary is here for – giving animals the time, care, and second chances they need before finding the right match for their future.

We are so proud of how far theyโ€™ve both come, and so grateful to our supporters who make these happy endings possible.

Good luck, Rusty and Luna – your new chapters begin now!

Happy Endings and Fresh Starts at MoonAcre

Weโ€™re delighted to share Grace safely arrived in Belgium at the end of last week and is already settling beautifully into her new home.

Meanwhile, life at MoonAcre continues to be busy. Weโ€™ve also welcomed two new arrivals โ€” sisters Sam and Bella. Due to unforeseen circumstances, their loving family was faced with the heart-breaking task of finding them new homes. Despite their efforts, no one came forward. When we were made aware of their urgent situation, we contacted the family and made the decision to take Sam and Bella into our care, with the familyโ€™s continued financial support, so we can prepare them for rehoming.

Sam and Bella are 8ยฝ-year-old crossbreeds. While they are sisters, they will be available for adoption separately, giving each of them the best possible chance to thrive in a new home.

Rustyโ€™s Rescue and Recovery

On the 18th of January, after returning from a dog walk, we found a puppy collapsed against our gate. We expected him to run away but instead, he ran straight into our arms. There was no tail wag, no excitement -only complete exhaustion.

Rusty was freezing, emaciated, and filthy. His ribs were clearly visible, and his gums were white – clear signs of prolonged neglect and extreme weakness. We brought him inside immediately, fed and hydrated him, gently bathed him, administered injectable vitamins, and settled him safely into a crate. He fell asleep almost instantly.

We named him Rusty, after the beautiful colour of his coat. From that moment on, a life of suffering, loneliness, and neglect would never again be his reality.

Rusty has since been examined by our vet. Weโ€™re relieved to share that he has no microchip and, thankfully, no underlying illness. His blood work is clearโ€”he is simply very underweight and in need of time, nourishment, and rest.

Despite everything he has endured, Rusty appears to be lead-trained, is friendly with other dogs, and has shown himself to be an incredibly sweet, gentle soul.

For now, Rustyโ€™s world revolves around rest, good food, and steady weight gain. He is safe, warm, and exactly where he needs to be.

Rusty is ready and searching for his forever home – a loving family who will give him the life he so deeply deserves. If you think you could be that special family for Rusty, please get in touch with us.
